Goodbye Chelsea – Hello Quebec City – July 27 2021

Departing early from Chelsea was super efficient.  I had time to rearrange stuff a little optimizinng space for Silvia.  The roads out of the area are pretty beat up so the Fit was enjoying a bit of a bouncy castle.  I was so looking forward to how the fit performed on the hills entering NB.  That was an adventure later to be had. After a big chunk of the journey it was time to grab a rest stop.  Silvia and I each had leftovers from dinner the day earlier.  A gas stop/break time wound up landing us in a cool little town called Batiscan  https://goo.gl/maps/8tghBUeb5stywJ9N9  We had a nice short munch break while discussing with Michelle a solution for her recently soaked ASUS ZenPhone Pro M2.  It had accidentally fallen into the toilet and was toast.  A quick call to Jag my phone repair person at https://cellntek.com/ revealed a phone not worth fixing.  Bummer.  Luckily I have a spare I bought in Japan.  After sorting out the phone thing, we went for a short beach walk and were soon back in the car for the last part of our Quebec city tour.
Our Quebec City host, Daniel was very kind and communicative.  His place was in a really nice part of town https://goo.gl/maps/Fc8MrwiAQZDE1Zpf7
He had taken his doughier to the hospital for what turned out to be minor motorcycle crash.  He had left the door open for us so we could pack away our stuff and get onto our bikes for a ride.  Silvia was a bit concerned about any hill rides.  I wanted to get down to the river to ride into Quebec City as I was experience with it.
This is an image of the downhill we face https://goo.gl/maps/jvDuMcmehoAippCj9  Google indicates it’s only a 79 metre drop.  It sure seemed further than that

Once at the bottom, the trail I was familiar with has been replaced with construction.  Dang.  At least it was not for all of the route.  By the time we reached the end of the trail, Silvia was toast.  So was I, we needed to eat.  finding affordable food at 5:15 PM in Old Quebec City is impossible.  We wound up walking out of the old city, up the hill and back into the regular part of town.  It was crazy busy and almost impossible to find something without a lineup.  Quite a few places were closed which was weird.  We would up decided to head back towards home and wound up finding a place very close to where we were staying.  Chaz, an excellent little place https://www.restaurantchaz.ca/ https://goo.gl/maps/huVUzWbz4HzmNjUz5 was only open for 2 years, and survived through Covid.  Luckily without reservations we were able to each beside our bikes and enjoy the setting sun. After a nice meal and a few beers, it was time to relax after a long travel day.
