Silvia had to work in the morning, ha ha. We had time for a short exploratory walk before she started. I had plenty of time to explore. Decided to ride again to the park entrance so as to be able to hike a small portion of the trails leading from the Gatineau Park Visitor Centre https://goo.gl/maps/9bbsMRSX7sb3WhD17 It’s really nice in the forest but getting kind of hot on the roads.
After a few KM’s it was best to head back so Silvia could do something on her “lunch” break. We had time for a short drive to Lac Meech https://goo.gl/maps/k8ctKQKRN1Yakf9V8. The drive there has much improved roads since the last time I tried to get there by bike. The last few KM’s are bumpy, not very wide and curvy. It’s kinda scary for a bike even now. We passed several parking lots of people pumping up their inflatable SUP’s Super popular at the lake. After our little photo op we headed back to Biscotti & Cie very close the Visitor Centre https://goo.gl/maps/4FC1JWQcPPmHxLh47cto grab a coffee and sandwich.
Back to her was Silvia while I putted around and planned our evening out. Silvia wanted to visit a friend still, we wanted to consider visiting Decathlon in Ottawa and perhaps meet up with Ayden and Rachel at the Byward.. Planning dinner at 8 PM left us time to squeeze everything in. Silvia’s friend was not available as we were heading to her part of town Bummer. With no time to wait, we simply pushed on the find parking in the city. We were told there is free parking in the Sandy Hill area. https://goo.gl/maps/Fhx5KJBxYPDE47Mc7
It’s kinds a big area and we noticed an unusually large number of sketchy looking people hanging out here and there. Perhaps this is a Covid thing. We had to bail on street parking and simply park indoors. We found it necessary to splurge on parking at the Rideau Centre. https://goo.gl/maps/pdnmn9Ha86Noc11FA
Getting out of this place with bikes was weird. We were not allowed to drive up the car ramp. We had to take the elevator. This elevator opened to the mall entrance. Cool, a couple of hosers with well lit bikes walking around a mall.. Yay we were finally on our bikes and headed to Decathlon. https://g.page/decathlon-ottawa?share The road ride there was not bad, with a few trails. Decathlon is pretty interesting. Tonne’s of selection without the gouging prices of Sail and Mec. Silvia got some sun clothes, hiking shoes and I got a simple foldable hat for bike rides. Silvia wisely chose to ride first towards Dows Lake https://goo.gl/maps/NWCGAVFrVeyhUiy18 This was an area she was quite familiar with as she lived there for 2 years. It was such a good choice. The trails in Ottawa are truly amazing. Riding around Dows Lake and returning back to the Byward along the Rideau Canal (Not the river) is so fantastic. We pulled into the Byward right on on time and quickly found The Chateau Lafayette House (The Laff) https://www.thelaff.ca/ https://g.page/thelaffottawa?share offering food, beer and a place to lock and see our bikes. Ayden and Rachel were soon with us and we had a really nice time goofing off. I had 2 larger beers requiring Silvia needed to drive back lol After goofing off at the Ottawa sign we quickly found our car and were soon safely back in Chelsea for our final night. That was a long one. 🙂
Smoke from the Canadian fires makes the morning sun weird
